Welcome To Sajjanpur: Review

'Welcome to Sajjanpur'... Shyam Benegal brings villages back to the attention. 'Welcome to Sajjanpur' is a tale of unconditional love in which the songs, the laughs are there. This film is a nice peek into village we all thought had ceased to exit. Even though 'Welcome to Sajjanpur' tells a story about a village, this film never makes a problem to new cola-sipping jeans generation. 'Welcome to Sajjanpur'is also an open surgery to some our government systems towards small villages.
'Welcome to Sajjanpur' is not yet another story of boy meeting a girl, falls in love, then his father or brother comes as villain and some songs, stunts and sentiments in between the story. 'Welcome to Sajjanpur' is a story of Mahadev(Shreyas Talpade), a letter writer who wants wants to become a novelist.Amrita rao plays role of village girl(Kamala),a young bride who is waiting her husband for four years since her husband went city for earning money before four years.Film's hero Mahadev pens letters for Kamala. In this film Kamala is not completed her schooling since she pays price for the crime of being teased in her class. This silently makes comments on village society rules.Even though Kamala is waiting her husband Mahadev wants Kamala madly. 'Welcome to Sajjanpur' becomes nice game of mischief and love as the story reaches its destination.
