More and more people are using gmail applications daily. The trouble is web apps only works when connected to internet. So it is impossible to use gmail or other web applications when the connection lose continuously. If you are traveling in train or plain the the net connection will break continuously. In order to use gmail again we should reload the page when net is again get connected. I am sure that you will be fed up of this situation. In order to solve this problem gmail has started new feature called 'offline'.
Once you activate 'offline' feature, gmail uses gears to download local cache of your mail. As long as you are connected to the internet, that cache is synchronized with gmail servers. When the net connection breaks gmail automatically switches to offline mode. During this time you can read and send messages. Also it is possible to do all normal actions such as star, label and delete messages. Actually, when you send message during offline will be placed in outbox and sens when net is again get connected.
In order to activate offline feature in gmail,
- Go to settings and click lab tab.
- Enable offline gmail.
- Then you can see new tab 'offline' is created at the top right corner of gmail menu bar.
- You can activate 'offline' feature by clicking that tab.
